FAQ

What type of services do you provide?

Here at Amelia's Nannies we are happy to place Full-Time (35 hrs+) live out nannies, Part-Time (a minimum of 20 hours) live out nannies, Live in nannies, and Summer/Temporary (3 months) positions.

How long does a placement take from start to finish?

Every family and placement is different but on average it takes anywhere between 2-6 weeks for a full placement.  The range is so wide because each placement is so unique. We really like to take the time to ensure a perfect match!

How do I pay my nanny?

We require that all of our families pay our nannies legally and fairly. Amelia will walk you through your employer responsibilities, help you set up payroll through recommended household employer payroll companies, and work with you through every step of this process.

I am a nanny, do I have to pay to be placed?

No!  You absolutely do not have to pay, you only have to apply and go through the the application process.

My friend pays minimum wage for her sitter, why are your nannies rates higher?

There are some very common misconceptions about the differences between a sitter and a professional nanny.  Professional nannies come with a lot more skills and experience than a typical sitter. In most cases a nanny not only takes care of the children in a family (although that is top priority) but they are able to provide the family with numerous other services (meal prep, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry, scheduling services, and much more).

Where do you find your nannies?

Our nannies come to us in so many different ways! We use several different avenues to find them but they often come to us through our nanny referal program.

What kind of screening do your nannies go through?

Our Nannies go through a rigorous vetting process. During the interview portion, we evaluate each candidates understanding of child development (cognitive, social, emotional, and physical), their overall experience, methodology, and professional demeanor. We call each candidates references, require CPR and First Aid certifications, and run a full panel background check which includes a motor vehicle report.

What areas of Kentucky do you service?

After only servicing the Louisville area for the past three years, we are now proudly serving Lexington as well!
